Chapter 2308: Sealed Tight

However, Elder Chu's decision to have Qionglong unleash its full power came at a cost: Qionglong's true form had to emerge, and its originally solid wind body had to disperse into every corner of the urban area.

Dispersing its power would have been unwise against an opponent like True Master Qianhuan. But Elder Chu felt there would be no problem against the monsters currently before them, as even the strongest among them were only at the Immortal level.

Yet, he still underestimated the situation.

As Qionglong expanded its form, its size magnified several times, and the buildings in the area were instantly blown to pieces.

Elder Chu's original intention was to blow away all these bothersome paper houses, leaving Madam Zhu and the others without cover. As soon as they emerged from underground, Qionglong would be able to catch them immediately.

But the problem was, these were not paper houses!

The raging tornado ripped away their disguise, revealing their true nature underneath—

Spiderwebs.

Inside every building, countless dense spiderwebs were woven. They connected horizontally and vertically, forming entangled masses in various ways.

A single ordinary residence might contain thousands of spiderwebs, meaning that with thousands of houses in the area, there were millions of webs. The tornado's sweep gathered them all together.

These spiderwebs were already intricately intertwined, each containing parts of the others. With the tornado's agitation, even the Spider Queen herself couldn't separate them.

Furthermore, the tornado spun in a way that moved from inside to out, from bottom to top, and then from outside to in. Elder Chu had no time to react as these millions of spiderwebs were swept up from every corner of the ground, beginning to coil themselves in the direction of the tornado's rotation!

Countless small spiders were also attached to them.

When called "small," it was relative to Madam Zhu's size; the smallest among them were comparable to a human man's fist, while the larger ones exceeded the size of a calf.

The power of Qionglong's wind blades could tear even Madam Zhu's toughest spiderwebs. One web might be cut, perhaps two, but if ten webs were stacked, it would struggle.

Yet, what now swirled in the air were millions of spiderwebs!

Although Madam Zhu's webs accounted for only a small portion, with the rest being creations of the Pit Spider clan, at this magnitude, even Qionglong's wind blades would lose some of their power after penetrating a dozen layers of webs.

No matter how powerful it was, it couldn't break through a hundred thousand webs.

The seemingly indestructible wind blades couldn't tear through something as light as air. This was the phenomenon of "too intertwined to untangle," also known as quantitative change leading to qualitative change.

And don't forget, this massive entanglement array of giant webs was contracting inward using the force of the wind, essentially wrapping around Qionglong's entire body.

Elder Chu's previous order to Qionglong, to enlarge its form, also dispersed its power, preventing it from immediately shrinking and breaking through.

Consequently, Elder Chu noticed the wind power suddenly diminishing.

Qionglong did not actively contract; the massive entanglement array forcibly blocked its peripheral wind power. The small spiders on the webs were exceptionally diligent, immediately rushing to repair any damaged sections.

Only then did Elder Chu recall the phrase "impenetrable."

By the time he ordered Qionglong to concentrate its power and break out, it was too late. No one could see the wind monster; only an astonishingly large cocoon of spiderwebs was seen crashing to the ground, creating a sound no less impactful than a Gigas's strike.

One of Qixia Sect's great weapons, the invisible and intangible Ethereal Qionglong, had been wrapped into a cocoon, unable to move.

Endless spiderwebs formed an impenetrable barrier, firmly trapping the formidable monster.

The disciples were astonished; all their magical artifacts were directed at the giant cocoon, attempting to break it from the outside.

But it was "too intertwined to untangle"; with countless threads all over Qionglong, how could they possibly unravel it?

With Qionglong trapped, the Pit Spider Queen's form once again surfaced, followed not only by True Master Jieshui but also seven or eight other great monsters.

The Qixia Sect members were horrified, having no idea where these monsters had been hiding.

The enemy's home-field advantage was truly immense.

In fact, ever since Tianwu was captured, Cang Yan had obtained crucial intelligence about Qixia Sect from it, including the number of sect members, each one's specialized skills, the hidden characteristics of their Ethereals, and even the temperaments of every elder and important disciple.

In the various combat zones of the Mirror World, Emperor Jiuyou had specifically deployed forces in advance, targeting the characteristics of the Gigantes and Qionglong, with the aim of defeating them one by one.

Apart from anything else, the mere fact that the Mirror World could hastily simulate Wei'an City was already remarkable.

Battles between immortal sects rarely involved such detailed planning, and by preparing meticulously against an unprepared foe, Qixia Sect suffered a great loss.

The immortals had originally considered Qionglong, not the Gigantes, to be the most troublesome opponent, as this Ethereal was formless and intangible yet immensely powerful, making it an excellent distracting force on the battlefield.

But He Lingchuan clearly understood the wind demon's weaknesses, and from this, he deduced that Madam Zhu's unique skill might be able to counter it.

At that moment, noisy footsteps sounded nearby. The Qixia Sect members turned to see a brightly armored army rapidly approaching. A hateful red glow emanated from every soldier.

Having been in seclusion for over a century, Elder Chu was not fully aware of the changes in the army's spiritual energy, but he instinctively sensed danger.

"Where's your brother?" Madam Zhu asked Weng Xing, who was leading the group.

"He went to fight the Gigantes," Weng Xing replied honestly. "Elder Liu said there were enough people there, so he told me to come help here."

Seeing Elder Chu's face grow increasingly grim, Madam Zhu rubbed her stout forelimbs and chuckled,

"With that bothersome wind monster out of the way, now we can have a fair duel!"

Yuan Xilin, using the Gigantes' perspective, observed Cang Yan's army pouring into the Mirror World in an endless stream.

To the Gigantes, these humans were like ants, yet their attacking power caused a major headache for Qixia Sect.

With a command from their leaders, ten thousand arrows were unleashed simultaneously.

The "demon-breaking arrows," standard issue for Cang Yan's army, were special weapons. They had been repeatedly tested and improved over the years in battles against immortals and demons, proving highly effective at dispelling supernatural abilities and spells. Coupled with the army's own vibrant red spiritual energy, each arrow piercing a Gigas felt like a fine needle pricking a human body.

Although the Gigantes felt no pain, the damage inflicted by the demon-breaking arrows was real, with thousands of them sticking into their bodies at once. Such a large target meant even the worst archer couldn't miss.

After the first rank finished firing, the second rank advanced to take its place, launching another volley in an orderly fashion.

This archery method of Cang Yan's army, effective against immortals and demons in the past, proved equally brilliant against the Gigantes.

After three such rounds, which took only about seven or eight breaths, the Gigantes' forms had become ethereal from the barrage. Their diminishing power was first evident in their bodies turning insubstantial. Additionally, Yuan Xilin also ordered them to actively shift from solid to ethereal to evade the army's damage.

Regardless, Cang Yan's army immediately launched another rapid volley!

Every arrow found its mark, turning the Gigantes into pincushions once more.
