Chapter 2920: Ghost Sedan Chair's Ability

The Wind Rises Across the Nine Provinces

The Wind Rises Across the Nine Provinces

As Lu Ye’s voice faded, silence fell upon the scene. Yet, he could clearly sense that the numerous Supreme Treasures were communicating in secret, and their discussion seemed quite intense, as flashes of brilliant light occasionally emanated from them. He did not press them, simply waiting quietly by the side.

The situation unfolded exactly as he had anticipated. Within moments of discussion, the Supreme Treasures reached a decision. The Supreme Treasure shaped like a jade ruyi spoke again: “Fellow Daoist Lu, we have agreed. We will proceed with your proposal. You are right; given the current circumstances, we face a shared fate. Although we are without flesh and blood, merely Supreme Treasures, the universe’s survival is intrinsically linked to our own. Therefore, we should naturally contribute our part.”

Lu Ye was delighted: “It is excellent that you all see it this way. On behalf of the Dragon race ancestors, I thank you for your profound righteousness!”

“You are too kind,” the jade ruyi quickly swayed. “It is they who will charge into battle; we are not truly making a great sacrifice.”

“There is one more matter I need your help with,” Lu Ye said with a serious expression.

“What might that be?” the jade ruyi inquired.

“Please, as much as possible, convey today’s events to other Supreme Treasures who were unable to come.” Although over twenty Supreme Treasures had arrived this time, the number of Dragon race powerhouses in his Inner Dimension far exceeded that. One Supreme Treasure per person would simply not suffice; by his estimation, he needed at least fifty or sixty. This would require the help of the Supreme Treasures present to disseminate the information.

“That is a small matter,” the jade ruyi readily agreed. “You needn’t have even asked; we were already prepared to do so.” In fact, they wouldn’t even need to exert much effort; once word spread, many more Supreme Treasures would surely come to join.

“Excellent!” Lu Ye’s spirits lifted. “Then let us begin!”

As he spoke, Lu Ye raised his hand and pointed at the void before him. Instantly, a portal materialized. “Everyone, please enter!” he invited.

The numerous Supreme Treasures looked somewhat bewildered, for they had all heard from the Ghost Palanquin about Lu Ye’s process of incinerating the corrosive power, and what they now saw seemed a little different from what they had been told. Lu Ye, of course, knew what they were thinking. He immediately explained: “This portal leads to a minor world where many Dragon race ancestors are currently in seclusion, cultivating. Please enter; I will help you resolve your current issues, and there you can also choose partners to fight alongside in the future.”

The primary reason for having the Supreme Treasures enter the minor world was a lack of time. Even if Lu Ye worked as quickly and efficiently as possible, resolving the issue for a single Supreme Treasure would take two or three days. For over twenty Supreme Treasures, it would easily require one or two months. However, given the urgency of the current situation, he couldn’t afford such a delay. Therefore, the process had to be conducted within the minor world. With the power of the Tower of Time continuously activated, the flow of time within his Inner Dimension would accelerate, thus resolving the issue. As for this minor world being his own Inner Dimension, there was no need to explain that too clearly to the Supreme Treasures.

Upon hearing this, the Supreme Treasures no longer hesitated. Led by the jade ruyi, they plunged one by one into the portal and vanished.

As they entered the Inner Dimension, the Supreme Treasures immediately sensed the presence of the Tower of Time, leaving them profoundly awestruck. While they were all Supreme Treasures, there were indeed varying degrees of supremacy. A Supreme Treasure like the Tower of Time, which had been hidden for eons within the River of Time and was involved with temporal power, was naturally superior to other Supreme Treasures. Everyone knew it was a Supreme Treasure belonging to the Dragon race, in existence since the dawn of the universe, but they had never expected to witness it today within this minor world. And that wasn’t all. Looking down from the tower, they saw figures of Dragon race powerhouses seated, their auras fluctuating, creating a truly magnificent spectacle. Their minds immediately settled, realizing that Lu Ye had not deceived them earlier.

A figure suddenly appeared on the Tower of Time—it was the manifested Tower Spirit. He had taken the form of a small boy, his brows deeply furrowed, wearing an expression of profound grievance. He hesitated to speak several times before finally saying, “Everyone, find a spot and stay put. Don’t move around.” He had received instructions from Lu Ye beforehand, which was why he had appeared to awe the numerous Supreme Treasures. However, this clearly put him in a difficult position. He had been in the River of Time since the universe’s inception, never interacting with anyone. The sudden influx of so many Supreme Treasures made him somewhat unaccustomed, and some of them even seemed particularly eager to get close to him… After speaking, the Tower Spirit vanished once more.

All the treasures were filled with awe and respect. They felt that it was truly worthy of being the Tower of Time; its composed demeanor was indeed incomparable to ordinary Supreme Treasures. They all immediately settled down obediently.

Inside the hollow of the Primordial Firmament Tree, Lu Ye focused his mind and conducted a quick scan, immediately feeling relieved. Other things in the minor world were inconsequential, even scarce. The crucial item was his Dao-Concordance Pearl. Although he had employed concealment methods to hide it, preventing the Supreme Treasures from seeing its existence, it would be disastrous if any of them moved erratically and accidentally touched it. This situation was ideal; with everyone staying put, he wouldn’t have to worry about any issues with his Dao-Concordance Pearl.

Lu Ye then turned to the Ghost Palanquin. “Does Senior Ghost Palanquin have any thoughts?” he asked. When the numerous Supreme Treasures entered the portal earlier, the Ghost Palanquin had not moved an inch. This left Lu Ye feeling a touch of regret. While the Ghost Palanquin’s power was unique, it wasn’t entirely useless. As a Supreme Treasure, it would always have its moments to shine. However, since the Ghost Palanquin hadn’t indicated any interest, he naturally couldn’t force the issue. Furthermore, for mere travel, the Ghost Palanquin was actually quite fast, far surpassing a cultivator’s own flight speed.

To Lu Ye’s surprise, the Ghost Palanquin replied, “What thoughts could I have? If those fellows understand the principle of shared fate, how could I not? If Fellow Daoist doesn’t mind, what do you say to me following you from now on?”

Lu Ye had assumed the Ghost Palanquin was wild and loved its freedom, and thus had little interest in his previous proposal, which was why it hadn't responded. He had never expected such a pleasant surprise! His spirits immediately soared: “If Senior doesn’t mind, it is indeed my great fortune! From now on, I will surely rely heavily on Senior’s power!”

“Consider it done!” the Ghost Palanquin laughed heartily.

Lu Ye then looked at the Primordial Firmament Tree. “Tree Elder, I need to make a trip to Scarlet Refining City,” he said.

The Ghost Palanquin immediately interjected, “Come, come! I’ll take you there!” Having expressed its willingness, it naturally couldn't just talk the talk; it needed to demonstrate its commitment through action.

Lu Ye couldn’t help but be surprised. “Does Senior also possess the ability to traverse space?”

The Ghost Palanquin proudly declared, “You’re underestimating me, aren’t you? No time to explain now—get in the palanquin!”

This was undoubtedly the Ghost Palanquin’s way of letting Lu Ye see for himself. Lu Ye was overjoyed. He had only known that the Ghost Palanquin was fast for travel, but he hadn't realized it also possessed the ability to traverse the void. If this were true, future journeys would become incredibly convenient, especially given the current circumstances where he might need to rush to various locations throughout the Star Abyss. While utilizing the power of the Primordial Firmament Tree was also convenient, the tree was too massive and permanently stationed here. Every time he needed its power, he would first have to transfer back from the Hehe Realm. With the Ghost Palanquin, however, things would undoubtedly be much simpler in the future.

Given the Ghost Palanquin’s warm invitation, how could Lu Ye hesitate? He lifted the palanquin curtain and prepared to step inside.

“Lu Ye…” the Primordial Firmament Tree suddenly called out.

Lu Ye turned his head and saw Tree Elder with a peculiar expression, as if wanting to say something, but ultimately he simply waved his hand. “Never mind. Go,” he said.

Lu Ye felt a pang of confusion. It was clear the Primordial Firmament Tree had something it wanted to tell him, but for some reason couldn’t voice it. It wasn’t a good time to press the issue now; he could ask about it later, after returning from Scarlet Refining City.

Stepping inside the palanquin, Lu Ye looked around. The interior space was just as it had been last time—empty and unremarkable.

“Let’s go!” the Ghost Palanquin rumbled.

Lu Ye immediately felt the palanquin vibrate. The vibration was intense, as if the Ghost Palanquin were traversing an extremely bumpy path. This shaking continued for over ten breaths before finally smoothing out.

Lu Ye pulled back the nearby curtain and asked, delighted, “Are we there?”

“Almost there… I suppose,” the Ghost Palanquin replied.

“Almost there, I suppose?” What did that mean? Lu Ye suddenly had a bad feeling. He immediately pulled out his star map to check their location. After confirming their position, his eye twitched. “Senior,” he began, “we seem to be… quite far from Scarlet Refining City?”

It wasn’t just "a bit far"; it was an immense distance, nearly a hundred million li. Though his current speed was impressive, covering such an immense distance would still take a considerable amount of time.

“No matter, I’ll try again!” the Ghost Palanquin said, preparing to exert its power once more. Then it added, “But Lu Ye, you’ll need to provide me with some Dao power.” While it possessed some reserve Dao power, a Supreme Treasure’s own reserves were never substantial. Thus, ordinarily, they would not easily deploy their inherent power. Only when in the hands of a cultivator, with a source of power, could a Supreme Treasure truly unleash its full value.

Lu Ye readily complied. Just like before, after a bout of violent shaking, Lu Ye pulled out his star map to check their location.

“Senior…” Lu Ye was somewhat at a loss for words. This time, they seemed to be even further from Scarlet Refining City than before, and in an entirely different direction. He finally understood why the Primordial Firmament Tree had hesitated to speak when they departed earlier; Tree Elder clearly knew the Ghost Palanquin inside and out. While the Primordial Firmament Tree’s spatial traversal did have some margin of error, with greater distances leading to larger discrepancies, it was generally quite reliable. In contrast, the Ghost Palanquin’s traversal… was utterly unconstrained and wildly unpredictable, truly difficult to describe.

“It’s a minor issue; I’ll try again!” the Ghost Palanquin said, activating its power for a third time.

A moment later, Lu Ye suggested, “Let’s just fly the rest of the way.” Although they were still quite far from Scarlet Refining City this time, it was undoubtedly a better position than the previous two attempts. Rather than allowing the Ghost Palanquin to continue random teleportation, wasting both time and Dao power, it would be simpler to just fly there directly.

“My apologies!” the Ghost Palanquin seemed slightly embarrassed. “Precise teleportation isn’t my strong suit; I’m not very proficient in that area. Even this current level of skill was learned from consulting Tree Elder for many years.”

For a moment, Lu Ye was speechless.
