Zuan was truly speechless. "Big sis, aren't you here to help Yu Yanluo secure a spot? How did this turn into a vacation?"
However, he had no time to voice his complaints, as more than a dozen contestants from various races were already charging towards them.
Their action instantly ignited the already tense situation, and others automatically split into several groups, engaging in chaotic brawls.
Typically, contestants from the same race would band together, or ally with friendly races to advance and retreat as one. No one else was like the Snake Clan, where two members stood by idly, letting just one person fight.
Many sneered inwardly, believing the Snake Clan lacked unity. They thought that no matter how high their cultivation, they would easily be defeated piecemeal.
But that was even better, as it meant fewer competitors.
Soon, no one paid attention to the Snake Clan's situation. Everyone focused on battling their allies and enemies, striving to defeat as many opponents as possible to maximize their chances of advancement and avoid having to fight among themselves later.
Zuan, meanwhile, was besieged by those dozen-plus contestants from various races. The weakest among them were at peak sixth rank, most were seventh rank, and some even at peak eighth rank.
These individuals, selected to represent their respective races, were clearly hand-picked masters. Even from a weaker race, it wasn't difficult to find a skilled fighter – though, of course, they were still a considerable distance from true top-tier experts.
Given Zuan's current cultivation, he naturally didn't need to exert himself. Simple punches and kicks were sufficient; each move sent an opponent flying.
The contestants attacking him felt baffled. The opponent's simple punches or kicks seemed easy to dodge, yet they always just narrowly missed, consistently getting hit.
They unleashed various formidable techniques, yet couldn't even touch a hair on him. The sensation was incredibly bizarre.
Everyone felt this person's strength was only slightly superior, and that with another chance, they could surely turn the tide. However, each time they charged, they were quickly knocked down again. Many began to wonder if they were jinxed or if their opponent was employing some kind of dark sorcery.
Yan Xuehen nodded subtly. "I never expected him to reach the realm of 'returning to simplicity' at such a young age. He is truly a genius among geniuses."
As the Temple Master of White Jade Capital and a transcendent Grandmaster, she had seen countless geniuses. Yet, even the most exceptional ones paled in comparison to Zuan.
"So, how utterly blind must someone have been to break up a pair of lovers?" Yun Jianyue rolled her eyes, never missing an opportunity to taunt her.
Yan Xuehen's face flushed slightly, recalling how she had once wanted to kill Zuan. The awkward part was that they later developed such an intimate relationship. Sigh, she truly didn't know how to resolve the situation.
Yun Jianyue didn't notice her unusual reaction. Instead, she gazed excitedly into the distance. "What's so interesting about little Anzi? That fellow from the Giant Maggot Clan, though, his techniques are quite intriguing."
Yan Xuehen followed her gaze and saw a pale, chubby figure, resembling a mountain of flesh, standing there. Clearly, other contestants recognized this individual as a formidable opponent, and he was alone.
Consequently, they all joined forces to attack him. However, the Giant Maggot contestant was utterly unfazed, allowing their blows to land on his body.
His body was covered in soft, flabby fat, resembling the Michelin Man mascot. When enemies landed powerful, heavy punches on him, his flesh merely rippled in waves, yet he remained completely unharmed. In fact, he wore an expression of enjoyment, as if they were giving him a massage.
Yan Xuehen furrowed her delicate brows. "This fellow looks a bit..."
Given her refinement and disposition, she found the word "disgusting" difficult to utter.
Yun Jianyue nodded, clearly sharing the sentiment. "Indeed, I would absolutely not engage him in combat."
Both women then simultaneously turned their gaze towards Zuan.
By this point, the battle around Zuan was concluding. A group of ill-intentioned contestants lay wailing in a circle on the ground, none able to stand.
Another group exchanged glances and charged forward once more.
They weren't acting on the Crown Prince's orders; they simply perceived Zuan's formidable strength as a significant threat and wanted to eliminate him while he was supposedly weakened after the previous intense fight.
Zuan was somewhat speechless. He actually possessed some area-of-effect skills, but he was concerned that using them would reveal his identity to those with ulterior motives. Thus, he could only honestly continue the fight.
At that moment, Lion Duke, from a distance, glanced in their direction. "Hmm, that young man seems quite skilled."
Lion Rong punched a charging enemy away, then sneered upon hearing the comment. "If he didn't have some strength, how would he dare to be so arrogant? Don't worry, he's only effective against small fry. Against us, he's utterly worthless."
Lion Duke considered this and agreed. Although he and his brothers weren't as formidable as their elder brother, they were still renowned masters. Dealing with an unknown figure from the Snake Clan would be child's play.
Zuan, too, was getting irritated. Seeing the endless stream of enemies converging on him, he thought, these guys really take me for a pushover, hoping to gain an easy advantage.
So, he struck with greater force to make an example. As expected, after several opponents were severely injured, the others were visibly shaken and hesitated to advance.
Yun Jianyue nodded in satisfaction. "You should have done that sooner. Why are you so overly cautious and soft-hearted?"
Zuan rolled his eyes. "You have the nerve to say that? You've been standing there watching the whole time. If you two had intervened earlier, these guys wouldn't have dared to surround us."
If all three had displayed unique, top-tier strength, others would indeed have been hesitant to exploit the situation. However, seeing two women with ordinary appearances who hadn't made a move, they assumed the women were merely there to occupy spots and that Zuan was doing all the fighting.
Therefore, they naturally wouldn't allow the Snake Clan to gain so many extra spots for free.
Yun Jianyue snorted. "What good are you if you can't even handle such a minor situation?"
Zuan was speechless.
Just then, Yan Xuehen's voice rang out: "Look out!"
The words had barely left her mouth when the ground trembled. The contestant from the Giant Maggot Clan was charging towards them. Clearly, he wasn't content with merely skirmishing against ordinary opponents and, having noticed Zuan's remarkable combat prowess, wanted to test his strength.
Yun Jianyue and Yan Xuehen instantly darted away, putting considerable distance between themselves and the approaching figure, clearly not wanting him to get close.
Zuan's face paled. He had just been grumbling about never wanting to encounter this particular opponent, but alas, the unexpected often happens.
As the opponent charged closer, a putrid stench filled the air. Zuan was almost overwhelmed. Was that the smell of faeces?
How could he possibly engage in a prolonged fight with such an opponent?
So, he unleashed a direct punch, a phantom fist-glow formed from vital energy appearing on his fist. He wanted to avoid any physical contact whatsoever.
Upon seeing the punch, the Giant Maggot Warrior neither dodged nor evaded, allowing it to land squarely on his stomach. However, the smile on his face instantly froze.
Everyone watched as his stomach visibly caved in. The Giant Maggot Warrior felt an intense wave of pain, then could no longer hold it back, retching and spewing out a large quantity of unidentified yellow matter.
Zuan was utterly dumbfounded.
Was that actually faeces he just sprayed?!
I'm utterly done!
He instantly teleported to the furthest edge of the arena, his face dark with disgust as he watched the scene unfold.
In the center of the arena, the Giant Maggot Warrior seemed unstoppable, continuously spewing various yellow liquids. The air immediately became thick with an utterly sickening and unspeakable stench.
"Damn, whose insides just got knocked out of them?!"
Contestants from other sections of the arena also caught the scent and stared over in horror.
The contestants in Zuan's group were particularly unfortunate. The sprayed liquid and its accompanying stench appeared to be toxic; those with slightly lower cultivation were immediately knocked unconscious by the foul odor.
Those with slightly higher cultivation quickly tried to flee, but unfortunately, the opponent's spray was like a vast ocean, instantly submerging the entire area. As soon as they were contaminated by the unidentified yellow liquid, their bodies stiffened instantly, and they collapsed helplessly to the ground. They watched in horror as the yellow liquid submerged their mouths and noses. Many, in their shock, had their mouths agape and accidentally swallowed some, tears of grief and despair immediately streaming from their eyes.
After this grotesque farce, only the Giant Maggot Warrior and nine others managed to escape to a high point nearby, where they continuously dry heaved. All other contestants in this group were submerged in the yellow mixture and had fainted.
Contestants from other groups were utterly stunned. They never imagined a result would be reached so swiftly in this particular group, let alone in such an unbelievable manner.
