Chapter 1682: One Qi Transforms into Three Pure Ones

"Brother Wang is right to admonish me," Li Changsheng admitted with a look of guilt. "It's mainly because your cultivation is so profound and this is your Zhengyang Sect's territory. I was compelled to resort to this underhanded tactic, and I am quite ashamed." He clearly felt the method was somewhat dishonorable.

Wang Wuxie scoffed, "You speak grandly, yet your actions are utterly despicable. Li Changsheng, how can you pursue the Great Dao like this? You are destined never to achieve immortality in this life."

Li Changsheng's expression remained calm. "Throughout history, how many have truly achieved immortality? It's perfectly normal for me not to."

Seeing his unflappable attitude, Wang Wuxie felt like he was punching cotton. "How did you manage to get Yan Xuehen's handwritten letter? I couldn't even detect a flaw!"

This was what puzzled him most, and the reason he had been so easily deceived.

Li Changsheng seemed surprised. "You don't suspect Junior Sister Yan is in league with us?"

Wang Wuxie retorted coldly, "How could Fairy Yan, such an ethereal and transcendent being, possibly align herself with your despicable schemes?"

Wang Wuxie had never admired a woman so much in his life, and he had complete confidence in his own judgment.

Li Changsheng sighed, "Everyone says you, Wang Wuxie, are infatuated with Junior Sister Yan, and today confirms it. Indeed, this letter wasn't written by Junior Sister Yan. I took words from her past correspondence and pieced them together. So, while the letter itself isn't her composition, every single character is genuinely her handwriting, which is why you couldn't find a flaw."

Only as a fellow disciple of Baiyujing did he have access to enough of Yan Xuehen's handwriting without arousing suspicion.

At this moment, Xuan Bajing couldn't help but chuckle. "Actually, the letter wasn't flawless; it was, after all, pieced together. At first, I worried you were too astute to fall for it, but you still walked right into our trap. It seems you, Wang Wuxie, aren't as clever as the legends claim."

"On other matters, Brother Wang is quite shrewd, but when Fairy Yan is involved, he loses his wits," Guan Chouhai chuckled. "Men are foolish; when it concerns a beloved woman, even obvious flaws or suspicious details will be overlooked as they deceive themselves."

Wang Wuxie's expression hardened. "Guan Chouhai, how can you even say that to me? I would never stoop to fawning over Yan Xuehen for years, constantly trying to curry favor like you have."

He prided himself on being dignified and had never relentlessly pursued Yan Xuehen. In contrast, Guan Chouhai's constant fawning seemed clownish.

Guan Chouhai retorted angrily, "I despise your self-righteousness, prioritizing dignity even when pursuing a woman. As the saying goes, 'even a good woman fears persistent wooing.' How many words have you exchanged with Yan Xuehen over the years compared to me? I daresay she's more familiar with me."

"So, Wang, you truly lack self-awareness. If Yan Xuehen were to ever develop feelings for anyone, it would only be me. Why would she arrange a late-night meeting with someone as tedious as you?"

"Shameless!" Wang Wuxie couldn't even be bothered to get angry with him. He knew Yan Xuehen's temperament better than anyone; she would never be interested in someone like Guan Chouhai.

Sensing the contempt in Wang Wuxie's eyes, Guan Chouhai instantly became enraged, demanding to settle the matter through combat.

Xuan Bajing intervened, "Brother Guan, let's focus on the real business. Stop bickering here."

Guan Chouhai's expression became sheepish, but he quickly refocused.

Feeling the others' auras subtly locking onto him, Wang Wuxie grew anxious and decided to stall for time. "There's something I don't understand," he began. "Although I haven't been exceptionally kind to you all these years, I certainly haven't bullied you by abusing my power, have I? Why are you joining forces against me today?"

As he spoke, he covertly scanned his surroundings. A barrier had been secretly established nearby, which meant any sounds of conflict wouldn't escape. Realizing that alerting the Zhengyang Sect would be impossible, he knew his only option was to fight his way out.

Li Changsheng sighed. "Brother Wang has lived a life of ease and prosperity these past years; naturally, he wouldn't understand our suffering."

Xuan Bajing snorted. "Back in the day, our Kunlun Void was the foremost Daoist sect. Look how the imperial court has suppressed and dismantled us over the years. Only you, the emperor's lackey, have prospered by aligning with the court. Which of the other eight sects isn't living in utter misery?"

A thought struck Wang Wuxie. "It seems you're planning a rebellion."

He knew the emperor was coming to Purple Mountain for the Fengchan ceremony. For them to attack him at this precise moment clearly indicated their target was the emperor.

"Brother Wang is indeed astute," Li Changsheng nodded approvingly. "If you agree to cooperate with us, our Nine Daoist Sects can stand united and confront Zhao Hao together."

"Even if I agree now, would you actually trust me?" Wang Wuxie, of course, wouldn't be swayed by such an easily uttered promise.

Li Changsheng smiled faintly. "Of course, Brother Wang will need to offer some sincerity."

Wang Wuxie didn't ask what "sincerity" implied, knowing it would likely involve sealing his meridians or surrendering. He would never agree to such terms.

"Did you abduct Peng Wuyan from Kongming Island?" he asked directly. Everyone had been searching for her for days without success. He wondered who possessed such immense power to silently spirit away a talented and strong disciple amidst the numerous masters on Purple Mountain.

Li Changsheng shook his head slightly. "We don't know what happened either. It seems there's another formidable figure hidden on Purple Mountain."

"How many sects are involved in this?" Wang Wuxie pressed, thinking that if all eight other sects were participating, the entire Zhengyang Sect might be facing destruction.

Li Changsheng stroked his beard and smiled. "Brother Wang, you'll naturally find out once you join us."

Xuan Bajing, however, was growing impatient. "Why are we still wasting time talking to him? It's clearly a delaying tactic."

Guan Chouhai, by contrast, looked relaxed. "Let him stall if he wishes. He's been poisoned anyway; the longer he delays, the deeper the poison will take hold."

Wang Wuxie had indeed felt his vision begin to blur. Remembering the white smoke he had inhaled, he frowned. "What kind of poison did you use?"

With his level of cultivation, ordinary poisons wouldn't have any effect on him.

"Brother Wang's cultivation is too high. We'll tell you once you're completely incapacitated," Guan Chouhai replied with a triumphant smile. He was clearly overjoyed to see his greatest romantic rival in such a helpless state. This man always acted so superior; now it was his turn.

Just then, Wang Wuxie made his move. He knew that any further delay would only put him at a greater disadvantage.

Simultaneously, the other three also struck. Given their individual statuses, they would ordinarily never join forces against a single foe.

However, first, Wang Wuxie was incredibly powerful, and second, the stakes of their current endeavor were immense. If they failed, no one could bear the repercussions.

Soon, the four were embroiled in a fierce battle. Divine radiance illuminated the area as each combatant unleashed their ultimate techniques. The air was thick with the destructive energy from their clashes; even a grandmaster passing nearby would have their meridians shattered and perish from the terrifying residual shockwaves.

In mere moments, the four had exchanged dozens of blows. Every move was fraught with peril; a single lapse in concentration would mean life or death.

After a brief pause, the figures separated once more. Wang Wuxie stood in the center, panting heavily, with several wounds. His hair, usually meticulously neat, was disheveled, clearly indicating he was significantly injured.

The other three, who had shifted positions, also had torn robes, indicating they, too, had sustained injuries.

Li Changsheng sighed. "Before, when people called you the foremost Daoist, we were somewhat unconvinced. But seeing you today, we are truly impressed."

One must remember that they were all sect masters, typically considered equals to Wang Wuxie. Yet, despite having the advantage of a sneak attack and outnumbering him three to one, they still couldn't subdue him, demonstrating his terrifying strength.

Wang Wuxie, however, was acutely aware of his struggles. The primary reason he hadn't fallen behind in a three-on-one fight was the lack of coordination among his opponents and their incomplete trust in one another. During the battle, they each held back some strength, guarding against potential betrayal, which was the only reason he could barely hold his ground.

But he knew that while his three opponents could make countless mistakes, a single misstep from him would lead to utter defeat.

Furthermore, he felt the poison beginning to corrode his meridians, causing his vital energy to flow increasingly sluggishly. If this continued, defeat was inevitable.

With this realization, he no longer wished to prolong the fight. With a sudden roar, his figure instantly split into three, each rushing in a different direction.

"One Qi Transforms into Three Pure Ones?" Li Changsheng and the others exclaimed in shock. For a moment, they couldn't distinguish which of the figures was real.
