The dragon was truly disgusting, but her attention was fixated on its recent words. The phrase "certain death" echoed in her mind, instantly filling her with despair.
Given the dragon's power, even she couldn't resist it, let alone Zu An, whose cultivation was inferior to hers.
"Why aren't you resisting at all? The more you resist, the more excited I get," the red dragon said, sounding displeased. It lifted a claw, and a massive nail lightly grazed her skirt.
A piece of her dress seemed to be sliced by a blade, falling neatly to reveal half of her fair-skinned thigh.
"Shameless!" Perhaps the news of Zu An's death had sobered her a bit, because despite the drug's effects, Zheng Dan's face was flushed with shame and indignation.
Unfortunately, her strength was as insignificant as an ant's before the massive dragon. She tried to summon water elements, but the dragon was clearly a fire-type, and the cave was filled with violent fire elements, making it impossible to conjure any water.
"Haha, now this is more interesting," the giant dragon chuckled, feeling Zheng Dan desperately twist and struggle.
"My beauty, wait a moment. Once I refine this Glazed Pearl, I'll be able to fully transform into human form. Then I'll return to have my way with you," the red dragon purred. It placed Zheng Dan in a corner of the cave, exhaled a breath that quickly transformed into a cloud of mist, completely encircling her and rendering her utterly immobile.
In fact, its efforts were redundant. Zheng Dan was already fully under the drug's influence, retaining only a sliver of consciousness due to the grief over Zu An's supposed death. She couldn't have moved regardless.
Seeing her obediently lie in the corner of the cave, the red dragon nodded contentedly, then began to concentrate on refining the pearl floating in mid-air.
Meanwhile, outside the cave, Zu An, who had been lying motionless on the ground, suddenly felt a trembling in his finger, and gradually, sensation returned to his entire body.
Intense pain coursed through his entire body. Zu An's face contorted in agony; he had no idea how many bones had been broken from that last impact.
"You should consider yourself lucky," Mi Li's gloating voice remarked. "If your body hadn't been tempered several times by the Primordial Chaos Scripture, you'd probably be a pile of mush right now. Always playing the hero to save a damsel in distress, do you feel the pain now?"
Zu An took a deep breath, suppressing the pain, and scoffed, "It doesn't hurt as much as when you used to beat me."
Mi Li: "..."
She recalled countless instances in the secret realm where she had knocked him down, only for him to get back up again. Back then, he was covered in blood, with hardly a single uninjured spot. A twinge of apology stirred within her at the memory.
Zu An turned to face the cave entrance and asked in a low voice, "Empress Sister, can you defeat that dragon?"
Mi Li's ethereal form shook her head. "After becoming a soul entity, my strength has been greatly diminished. Furthermore, the poison of Xiangfei Red Tear is extremely peculiar, even tainting my soul. My primary focus now is on purifying it, so naturally, I can't deal with that dragon."
"Even if I had a way to deal with that dragon, I wouldn't intervene. To sacrifice the fruits of my arduous efforts over this period, potentially even suffering severe damage to my soul afterward, all for an irrelevant woman? I'm not that benevolent."
Zu An, sensing from her tone that she might indeed have a way to deal with the dragon, was about to speak when she interrupted him. "I advise you not to say things like, 'If you don't save me, I'll go to my death and drag you with me.' I, Mi Li, have been unyielding my entire life; I never accept threats."
"Rather than being exploited by you like this repeatedly and never recovering, I'd rather just die sooner," Mi Li sneered.
Zu An chuckled awkwardly. "I wasn't threatening you."
Mi Li snorted. "I never would have thought someone as outwardly wholesome as you would be such a philanderer. Last time in the secret realm, you were acting all devoted with your little wife, and not long after, you were entangled with that elf. How much time has passed since then, and now you're with yet another woman?"
Zu An sighed. "What can I do? My charm is simply too great; when good fortune with women comes, there's no stopping it."
Mi Li: "..."
If she had encountered a man like him in her prime, she would have sent him straight to the Imperial Household Department to be castrated.
By this time, Zu An had shakily gotten to his feet. The Primordial Chaos Scripture granted him extraordinary recovery abilities; what should have been a severe injury had, after only a short while, barely allowed him to regain his mobility.
Seeing him slowly walk towards the cave, Mi Li was startled. "What are you doing? Are you really throwing your life away for a woman?"
No one in the world knew Zu An's true strength better than she did. Although he possessed many extraordinary abilities, they were meaningless in the face of such an overwhelming power disparity.
"Don't worry, I have a plan," Zu An said calmly.
He absolutely had to rescue Zheng Dan. In her current state, if left unattended, she would undoubtedly explode and die.
He had also read accounts in school about the inherently lustful nature of dragons. Although he couldn't fathom how "that" would work with such a vast difference in size, as her friend, how could he simply stand by and watch Zheng Dan suffer without intervening?
"If you get into trouble, I won't save you!" Mi Li stomped her foot. Despite her words, she couldn't help but follow him, still worried.
As Zu An walked, he activated "Bright Mirror Not A Stand," a technique Qiu Honglei had taught him. His aura grew increasingly faint, eventually becoming completely imperceptible.
Mi Li was astonished. When did he acquire such an ability?
She could clearly see him, yet couldn't detect his aura at all. Even with her cultivation, it would require her utmost concentration and several repeated scans to perceive his presence.
Zu An stealthily made his way to the end of the passage. He didn't dare venture further inside.
He knew that while "Bright Mirror Not A Stand" could conceal his aura, it didn't grant invisibility. If the red dragon were to spot him, he would still inevitably be discovered.
He observed carefully and found the red dragon continuously flying and circling a glittering pearl suspended in mid-air.
"Hmm, that pearl seems quite extraordinary," Mi Li murmured, staring thoughtfully at the orb.
Zu An, however, had no time to concern himself with any pearl. His primary concern was Zheng Dan's safety.
He looked around and finally spotted Zheng Dan lying in a corner, appearing to be safe for the time being.
"How do you plan to save her?" Mi Li couldn't help but ask. From her perspective, rushing in like that would be suicidal.
Zu An didn't answer, instead retreating silently.
Once outside the cave, Zu An finally spoke. "I need to find people to help."
"In this remote wilderness, where will you find anyone?" Mi Li asked, bewildered.
A playful smile appeared on Zu An's face. "There are people."
Aren't Chen Xuan and his group readily available?
Chen Xuan had always sought to kill him, and Zu An, too, wanted to resolve this lingering threat, but he had never found the right opportunity.
Now, the opportunity had arrived!
As for Liu Chan and his group, once they knew Zheng Dan's identity, she would certainly not want them to live.
Of course, from his perspective, it would be best to keep one or two of them alive to help the Chu family resolve the private salt issue later.
However, he couldn't afford to consider such details now; whether these people survived would simply be left to fate.
He returned the way he came. Just moments ago, while escaping, he had wished nothing more than to completely shake off his pursuers, but now he incessantly prayed that he hadn't actually lost them.
Fortunately, it wasn't long before he heard commotion nearby. Liu Chan's group had lost their target and were now complaining to each other.
Chen Xuan, too, stood in the center, his face grim. His heart bled at the thought of the "Eighteen Degrees of Spring Breeze" he had painstakingly acquired now benefiting Zu An.
Rage points from Chen Xuan +666!
At this point, Zu An poked his head out from a distance, pointed at the group, and declared with a loud laugh, "I'm not targeting anyone in particular, but every single one of you here is garbage! I ran while carrying someone, and you still couldn't catch me, you trash!"
Chen Xuan: "..."
Liu Chan: "..."
The Giant Whale Gang members: "..."
Their initial reaction was, "Is this guy insane? He already escaped, yet he came back?"
Then came immense rage, as they had clearly heard his words.
How could they possibly tolerate this?
The Giant Whale Gang members were naturally hot-tempered individuals, accustomed to living dangerous lives, and they certainly couldn't tolerate such an insult.
One after another, they howled and charged after him.
Chen Xuan, who was always cautious, felt a subtle sense of unease.
However, the thought that Zheng Dan was likely fully under the drug's influence now spurred him on; if they didn't retrieve her soon, she would truly fall into the hands of other men.
So he had no choice but to rush after them. He reasoned that even if Zu An had some trick up his sleeve, his low strength posed no threat to him.
Even so, he still allowed Liu Chan and the others to charge ahead, ensuring that if there were any traps, they would be the first to suffer.
Seeing the group charging after him, Zu An quickly took off running.
In his mind, Mi Li sneered, "These are the 'helpers' you spoke of? Frankly, these people, plus you, combined wouldn't even be enough to pick that dragon's teeth."
"I have my own method!" Zu An said in a deep voice.
Due to the rugged terrain and numerous obstacles in the forest, even though Chen Xuan was faster than Zu An, he couldn't catch him for a while.
After chasing for some time, he suddenly frowned and stopped.
Liu Chan and the others, who had been closely monitoring his movements, quickly asked, "Boss, what's wrong?"
"I sense something isn't right. This fellow seems to be deliberately luring us in that direction," Chen Xuan said in a low voice.
Liu Chan and the others chimed in, "Boss, you're being overly cautious. Even if he's doing it on purpose, what of it? We've been chasing him relentlessly; he wouldn't have time to set up any traps for us. Besides, there are so many of us here, and with you, Boss, a single collective spit could drown him."
The others readily agreed, primarily because the thought of Zheng Dan potentially becoming "water-made flesh" by now made their hearts burn with desire, leaving them no room to think of anything else.
Chen Xuan, however, remained calm. "Don't you find it strange that we haven't encountered a single fierce beast throughout this entire journey? There are only two possibilities: either this area is truly desolate and devoid of fierce beasts, but that probability is extremely low; or, this is the territory of a powerful fierce beast, and other fierce beasts dare not approach."
The others were startled, realizing he had a valid point.
Zu An noticed them stopping, understanding that they were likely growing suspicious. After all, Chen Xuan had eluded various pursuers for years, proving himself far more cautious than the average person.
However, he was well prepared. He immediately activated the "Verbal Flourish" skill he had previously drawn: "You bunch of trash, I'm done playing with you. I'm going to play with your gang leader now."
