Chapter 1433: Great Wind

The group was startled, then realized the description indeed resembled the foxes nearby. Could it be that the legendary Da Feng was actually a fox from Qingqiu?

Zu An was also somewhat bewildered. If that were the case, what about the depiction of Da Feng in the Phoenix Nirvana Scripture?

At that moment, the foxes that had been watching them seemed startled and suddenly began to flee in all directions.

The group felt the sky dimming slightly. Yu Yanluo subconsciously said, "Is it going to rain? Why are there so many dark clouds?"

Zu An, however, felt a sudden surge of alarm. "Watch out!" he warned.

As he spoke, he moved directly to the three women, embracing their waists and dodging to the side.

Yu Yanluo, being his girlfriend, was naturally unconcerned. Yun Jianyue and Yan Xuehen also showed no shyness or anger; after spending so much time together, they had formed a tacit understanding, knowing he wouldn't act inappropriately. They all focused their attention, bracing for unknown danger.

Sure enough, a dark shadow streaked past the spot where they had just been.

Its speed was so immense that if one weren't concentrating intently, they wouldn't even perceive the shadow's presence.

Yun Jianyue and Yan Xuehen were inexplicably horrified. What kind of creature was this, with such incredible speed?

If Zu An hadn't warned them, they would likely have suffered a great loss from this creature's sneak attack.

It was also strange: Zu An's cultivation was clearly not as high as theirs, and his spiritual power couldn't compare, yet his perception of danger was more acute than theirs.

Zu An secretly thanked the "Records of the Book of Heaven" and then fixed his gaze forward.

They had dodged it, but the foxes weren't so lucky.

They had now ascended to the heavens—literally.

Their spines had been pierced by sharp talons, leaving them limply dangling, clearly without a trace of life.

The owner of the talons was a strange bird with white feathers, a reddish tail, and a remarkably bizarre head that seemed to be grinning at them.

"Da Feng!"

The group immediately recognized it; it was indeed identical to the creature from legends.

Zu An secretly mused, "Has this creature eaten too many foxes? It actually resembles a fox somewhat."

The strange bird opened its large beak, and a gust of fierce wind swept forth, drawing all the fleeing foxes, including those already clutched in its talons, into its mouth. A hint of satisfaction appeared on its face.

"If Tu Shan Yu were here, she'd probably faint from anger," Yun Jianyue remarked.

"Could it be that in ancient times, Da Feng was the mortal enemy of the Qingqiu Fox Clan?" Yan Xuehen pondered a different question.

Yu Yanluo frowned as she looked at the strange bird. Since the snake clan and celestial raptors were natural enemies, she naturally disliked it.

At that moment, the strange bird, Da Feng, suddenly turned its head and stared intently at Zu An and the others.

"Oh no, it's about to attack," Zu An thought, his heart sinking as he noticed its expression.

No sooner had he spoken than Da Feng vanished.

Learning from the previous encounter, Yun Jianyue and Yan Xuehen had already prepared themselves. Seeing this, they immediately activated their respective domains.

It was then that they finally saw Da Feng; it hadn't vanished but was simply moving too fast for the human eye to perceive.

However, affected by the domains of the two Grandmasters, its speed finally decreased slightly, and its form was soon discovered by the group.

At this moment, the Flying Snow Sword and Star-Moon Wheel also moved. Neither Yan nor Yun were the type to passively endure an attack.

Although the two often bickered, their coordination was seamless once they worked together.

In almost an instant, they sealed all of Da Feng's escape routes.

Just as it seemed about to suffer defeat on the spot, it suddenly vanished again.

Zu An was intimately familiar with this, as he frequently used such teleportation techniques himself.

Sure enough, the next second they noticed Da Feng had flown up into the sky.

Seemingly sensing that these humans were formidable, it didn't attack rashly again. Instead, its entire body rapidly expanded, quickly becoming enormous enough to cover the sky and sun, with a single wing resembling a vast cloud.

Concurrently, the oppressive aura emanating from it grew increasingly terrifying.

Yun Jianyue frowned. This creature had apparently been hiding its true power; it would be difficult to deal with now.

Just then, Da Feng suddenly flapped its wings, unleashing a terrifying hurricane that swept towards the group, visible to the naked eye.

Within the eye of the storm, countless trees and rocks were instantly pulverized. It was easy to imagine that anyone caught inside would suffer a fate akin to being cut into a thousand pieces.

The group instinctively tried to move away, but immediately felt a powerful suction pulling them towards the eye of the storm.

Yun Jianyue and Yan Xuehen's cultivation levels were, naturally, not a concern; they had their own methods of self-preservation.

Zu An quickly moved to Yu Yanluo's side, embracing her waist, and used the "Da Feng" technique to teleport a hundred zhang away, temporarily avoiding the terrifying hurricane.

"Eh?" At that moment, the colossal strange bird in the sky suddenly spoke in human tongue. Immediately after, it flapped its wings, and the terrifying hurricane instantly vanished, leaving only the surrounding devastation as a testament to what had just occurred.

"Why do you possess the legacy of my clan?" Da Feng lowered its head, looking at Zu An. Its previously fierce gaze had softened considerably.

The group wasn't surprised that it could speak. Beasts of this caliber naturally developed intelligence comparable to humans.

Seeing that it had ceased its attack, Yan Xuehen and Yun Jianyue also temporarily held their hands, waiting for developments.

"By chance, I obtained the legacy of Da Feng..." Zu An explained, simultaneously summoning Da Feng, unsure if the creature could see the symbol.

The Da Feng in the sky trembled, exclaiming in disbelief, "It's the aura of the Ancestor!"

"Ancestor?" Zu An wondered. Could his Da Feng mark actually originate from its progenitor?

At that moment, Da Feng flapped its wings, and its immense body rapidly shrank, returning to the size of a golden eagle from a previous life. It descended from the sky, saying, "Since you possess the Ancestor's legacy, we are not enemies, and there's no need to fight further."

Yan Xuehen breathed a sigh of relief. It was better to resolve it this way; the strange bird before them was indeed powerful.

Yun Jianyue, however, felt a lingering sense of unfinished business, having originally anticipated a good fight.

Yu Yanluo gave Zu An a peculiar look, thinking it strange that he possessed the legacy of the snake clan's natural enemy. No wonder he usually had her so completely under his control.

"Thank you!" Zu An thought. It was certainly best to resolve things peacefully. The previous encounter with the Serpent of Cultivation had already proven that a direct pass was the simplest way to proceed.

"What are you going to do?" Da Feng asked. "Ahead lies the territory of the Golden Crows. They aren't as amiable as I am." As it spoke, it specifically glanced at the women beside Zu An, thinking that the long-haired woman and the two cold-faced women were quite formidable; it had almost been defeated itself.

"We are undergoing a trial..." Zu An explained subtly. He couldn't very well say he was there to eliminate all the ferocious beasts that plagued the human world.

"I see," Da Feng suddenly said. "However, you probably won't be able to pass through Tanggu, where the Golden Crows reside."
